Details: Do you have a local connection and passion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (First Nations) peoples health and wellbeing and building the cultural safety and cultural responsiveness of health services delivered in the ACT and region? Then we want to hear from you!

The Health Policy and Programs Division is responsible for providing advice to the Minister for Health and the ACT Government to meet the health needs of the community.

This is done by contributing to the creation of policy settings that ensure the right care can be accessed in the right place, in the right way, at the right time, and that people are better able to care for themselves.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Partnerships business unit offers a values-based culture in which we pride ourselves on inclusion, respect, and integrity. We deliver on compelling, diverse, meaningful and impactful work in partnership with Community.

This involves contributing to the management and coordination of policies, Cabinet, ACT Legislative Assembly, Ministerial briefings, Directorate coordination and other related issues impacting on the health and wellbeing of First Nations Communities in the ACT and region. The team will be responsible for ensuring coherent, timely, high-quality advice, briefing and information to Ministers,



Senior Executives, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Organisations/Health Organisations and other internal and external stakeholders at the intersection of health and community services both locally and nationally.

We are seeking a values-based, motivated, experienced Director, ideally with a health professional qualification, and demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and maintain respectful partnerships. This person can partner with the Senior Director, operate confidently at a whole-of-system level, and provide leadership and inspiration to the business unit to significantly contribute to improving the health and wellbeing outcomes for First Nations peoples.

Eligibility/Other requirements: We are ideally seeking a candidate with a strong connection to the ACT and region (or who can demonstrate creating these connections), who preferably has a health skilled qualification, and experience in health service delivery. The candidate will be required to be located in the ACT and work in a hybrid model both remotely and at the physical office with days in the office potentially increasing over the period.

This is an Identified position in accordance with Section 27(4)



of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 and is only open to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander lived experience and cultural capability is considered essential and therefore confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage may be requested

Notes: This is a temporary position available for nine months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
