R&M; Trades Assistant – Commercial Laundry

Location: Hervey Bay, QLD
Hours: Rotating Roster Week 1: 5am to 1:30pm Week 2: 9:30am to 6pm - Monday to Friday with some weekends, after-hours and call-backs as required.

We are looking for a hands‑on and motivated R&M; Trades Assistant to support our maintenance team in keeping our commercial laundry facility running smoothly. This role is perfect for someone with mechanical aptitude who enjoys working in an industrial setting and assisting with equipment maintenance.

What You’ll Do:

- Assist tradespeople with repairs and preventive maintenance of industrial laundry equipment.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as lubrication, filter changes, and minor adjustments.
- Help troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues under supervision.
- Keep work areas clean and organised, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with stock control and the organisation of tools and spare parts.
- Support operations by being proactive across a mix of tasks.
- Follow approved systems and practices, ensuring compliance with best industry standards and company Work Health & Safety (WH&S;) policies.

To Be Successful, You Must:

- Have good mechanical aptitude with relevant experience in a maintenance or trade assistant role.
- Have welding experience.




- Be prepared to work flexible hours, primarily Monday to Friday, with some weekends, after-hours, and call-backs as required.
- Work independently and without supervision while being accountable to the Maintenance Manager.
- Be willing to learn new skills, including troubleshooting specialised plant and equipment.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills , with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Have a strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to think critically when responding to maintenance issues.
- Hold a current driver’s licence (if required for the role).
- Be physically fit, as the role involves manual handling, working in confined spaces, and operating in an industrial environment.
- Adopt a professional and positive attitude with co-workers and management, fostering teamwork and effective communication.
