We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Assistant Nurse Unit Manager - Anaesthetics/ PACU to join our clinical team on a full-time basis, will consider Part-time. Monday to Friday - no weekends, no public holidays, no overnights, no on-call.
Experience in Ophthalmology highly desirable to this role.
Duties and responsibilities:
This role provides support to the Hospital Management Team and manages the perioperative department through leadership, mentoring and clinical governance to ensure effective operation of the hospital.
As an Assistant Nurse Unit Manager, you will:
- Drive quality and safety improvement: Support the GM/DON and NUM with quality and safety activities, helping embed continuous improvement, evidence-based and safe practice and clinical excellence across the hospital.
- Support operational performance: Assist the GM/ DON and NUM, with resources, rostering, procurement, administration, quality and safety activities.
- Educate, mentor and lead: Provide guidance, coaching and leadership to the team.
- Keep patient safety central: Maintain clear communication with the team and respond proactively to risks, changes or concerns.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships: Develop positive working relationships with Visiting Medical Officers, patients, colleagues and other key stakeholders.
- Champion patient-centred care: Help create a culture of excellence where patients receive consistent, compassionate care throughout their journey.

About You:
You have a genuine passion for nursing, providing world-class patient care and adding value to Australian healthcare. You will have:
- Advanced Perioperative experience Ophthalmology Anaesthetics/ PACU nursing
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the role, or a commitment to working towards them.
- A demonstrated commitment to education, mentoring and clinical leadership.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, doctors, colleagues and key stakeholders.
- Strong organisational, time management, leadership and communication skills.
- Experience supporting quality improvement activities, work health and safety, infection prevention and control, and accreditation processes.
- Advanced clinical and technical capability, supported by sound problem-solving skills.
- Experience in our hospital’s specialties desirable.
- Experience in a rapid-paced day or short-stay hospital environment desirable.
