Macquarie Street Periodontists is offering a part time (3-4 days, 27-36 hours) opportunity for a Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our modern, well-established specialist practice in Hobart. Starting in August/September 2026, this is a dental assistant role first and foremost, with some reception work —usually about one day a week—depending on the needs of the practice. No prior dental, periodontal, or implant experience is required. We'll teach you everything you need to know.

Your role includes:

Dental Assisting

- Caring for patients in the clinical areas
- Assisting procedures chair-side
- Preparing trays and maintaining clinical spaces
- Supporting smooth workflow between front office and clinical teams
- Sterilisation and infection control

Front Office

- Welcoming patients and providing warm, professional service
- Managing phones, emails, appointments, and daily schedule flow
- Processing payments and coordinating patient treatment
- General reception and administrative duties
- Contributing to a highly organised, patient-focused practice environment

We support our referring Dentists and their patients by providing specialist Periodontal and Implant care including treatment of gum disease, gum cleaning, gum surgery, bone and gum grafting, extractions and dental implant placement.
