Wyndham Youth Aboriginal Corporation (WYAC) is an Aboriginal community‑controlled organisation dedicated to supporting young people, families, and the wider community through culturally grounded programs, advocacy, and practical assistance. We work to strengthen cultural identity, improve wellbeing, and create meaningful opportunities for our community.

About the Role The Community Worker plays a key role in delivering WYAC’s youth, family, and community support programs. This position provides culturally safe support, case management, advocacy, and community engagement activities. The role suits someone who is passionate about working alongside Aboriginal young people and families to create positive change.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide culturally appropriate support, mentoring, and advocacy to young people and families.
- Assist with case management, including assessments, referrals, and ongoing support plans.
- Facilitate community programs, workshops, and activities that promote wellbeing, culture, and connection.
- Build strong relationships with community members, Elders, partner organisations, and service providers.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with WYAC policies and funding requirements.
- Support WYAC events,



cultural activities, and community initiatives.
- Contribute to a protected, respectful, and inclusive organisational culture.

Essential Criteria

- Experience working with Aboriginal young people, families, or communities.
- Understanding of the social, cultural, and historical factors impacting Aboriginal communities.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, community‑focused team.
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain records.
- Current WA Driver’s Licence.
- Working With Children Check and National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain).

Desirable Criteria

- Qualifications in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work, or related fields.
- Experience in case management or program delivery.
- Local knowledge of Wyndham and surrounding communities.
