Kaebel Leisure is a specialist Australian manufacturer of rope-based playground equipment. We design and manufacture custom and standard play structures for schools, councils, landscape architects, builders and playground companies across Australia and overseas.

We are looking for a Graduate / Junior Production Designer to join our Design & Engineering team in Beresfield.

This early-career role would suit someone with CAD ability, a practical mindset and an interest in designing things that get made. You may have recently completed, or be close to completing, a TAFE, university or drafting qualification in CAD drafting, mechanical design, engineering drafting, fabrication drafting, product design, industrial design or a related area.

We would also consider a motivated school leaver with strong CAD aptitude and the right attitude, particularly if they were interested in a drafting apprenticeship pathway.

About the role

You will help turn playground concepts into clear, accurate and manufacturable designs. Working with our project designers, customers, production team and project coordination team, you will prepare CAD models, drawings and production documentation for custom rope, net and steel playground projects.

This role includes some creative problem solving, but the main focus is great execution: practical design work that can be manufactured efficiently and installed successfully. You will be supported by experienced designers while you build strong practical design skills.

Your work will include

- Preparing CAD models, drawings and production documentation
- Working with AutoCAD, Inventor and internal design tools
- Developing 2D and 3D design outputs for review, approval and manufacturing
- Supporting custom rope, net and steel design projects from concept through to production
- Working with production to resolve design questions and improve manufacturability




- Following internal design systems, drawing standards and project workflows
- Learning how safety standards, manufacturing constraints and customer requirements shape the final design

The person we are looking for

More important than your exact qualification is your attitude and your interest in practical design.

We are looking for someone who is:

- Strong with CAD, or clearly capable of becoming strong quickly
- Technically minded and interested in how things are made
- Accurate, organised and detail-focused
- Willing to learn and confident enough to ask questions
- Comfortable working in a structured process with deadlines
- Interested in manufacturing, steel, rope, net structures and custom products
- Keen to build a long-term career in practical design and manufacturing

Helpful experience would include AutoCAD or Inventor, CAD drafting, 3D modelling, technical drawing, fabrication, manufacturing, product design or construction documentation.

You do not need playground industry experience. We can teach that.

We are open to different junior experience levels. The upper end of the salary range is intended for applicants who already bring relevant CAD, drafting, trade, manufacturing or practical design experience.
