Salary/Level: Level 3 or 4, $89,464 - $96,043 or $99,134 - $104,044 p.a. plus 12% Superannuation

Location: Jurien Bay, Western Australia The Turquoise District extends along the coast from Lancelin in the south to Dongara with a chain of approximately 40 islands, islets and rocks of the coast. It is also home to Lesueur National Park and Nambung National Park. The district office is located in Jurien Bay with a work centre in both Cervantes and the Pinnacles

We currently have an chance for a District Operations Officer - Work, Health and Safety to join our team.

Under the direction (Level 3) or general direction (Level 4) of the District Manager, this position:

- Reviews and monitors all aspects of implementation of the Department’s Work Health and Safety Management System in the district. Provides focus and guidance to all employees and contractors working within the district on health and safety related matters.
- Collates and disseminates information relating to safe working practices.
- Ensures Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and a process for the completion of job inductions, exists and occurs within the district.
- Facilitates Work, Health and Safety (WHS) training and inductions for district staff and contractors including maintaining relevant records.
- Facilitates the procurement, maintenance and utilisation of safety equipment as appropriate for the work undertaken.
- Engages with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing section to ensure a consistent approach to WHS is achieved.

Selection Criteria

1. Considerable operational (Level 4) or operational (Level 3) ability and experience in natural resource management including environmental, recreational, fire, and park management or similar.
2. Demonstrated experience of high-level leadership, supervisory (Level 4) or some experience in leadership (Level 3), works program planning, and an appreciation of how to conduct work, health and safety reviews of work practices, present training and information sessions and recommend improvements to work practices.
3. Evidence of well-developed (Level 4) or good (Level 3) oral communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in effective liaison with other government agencies, non-government agencies, industry, stakeholders, and community interest groups, to achieve acceptable outcomes within specified timeframes.
4. Demonstrated experience (Level 4) or experience (Level 3) in, and knowledge of applying administrative processes, with a preference for someone with an appreciation of the workers compensation process.
