Senior Research Associate, In Vivo Biology at Flagship Pioneering, Inc.

About the role

Flagship Pioneering, Inc. is seeking a skilled and meticulous Senior Research Associate to enhance our In Vivo Biology team. This position is pivotal in spearheading projects that revolve around the identification and preclinical advancement of therapeutic proteins sourced from viral origins. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and interpreting in vivo studies aimed at evaluating therapeutic proteins, with the ultimate goal of identifying viable candidates for further development and facilitating their transition through preclinical stages and into Investigational New Drug (IND) submission.

What you'll do

- Develop, implement, and analyze in vivo experiments to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of investigational compounds, including studies on pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, biodistribution, and overall efficacy.
- Perform ex vivo studies to assess pharmacodynamic characteristics and mechanisms of action in various tissue types.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to strategize experiments, manage results, and support overarching research goals and project milestones.
- Innovate in the design and execution of both in vivo and ex vivo studies, contributing fresh ideas and methodologies.
- Oversee partnerships with external research institutions, ensuring smooth collaboration and communication.
- Present research findings to both the scientific team and management, articulating results clearly and effectively.




- Conduct thorough data analysis, maintaining a keen eye for detail and addressing any issues that arise during the research process.
- Keep a meticulously organized electronic lab notebook to document all experimental procedures and results.
- Draft and revise experimental protocols to maintain high standards of documentation and compliance.

Requirements

- A Bachelor's or Master's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience in in vivo and ex vivo laboratory settings, whether in academic or industrial environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in mouse handling techniques, including various injection methods (IV, IM, IP), blood sampling, and tissue collection.
- Experience in monitoring animal health and effectively communicating any adverse findings to veterinary staff, ensuring adherence to animal care regulations.
- Capability to write and maintain animal research protocols.
- Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks (ELN) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with a talent for conveying complex technical information clearly and documenting results comprehensively.
- Proven track record of thriving in a collaborative team environment.




- A proactive mindset towards biological research and assay development.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with self-motivation.

Nice to have

- Practical experience with a range of ex vivo and in vitro analysis techniques, such as ELISA, MSD, Luminex, ELISpot, and flow cytometry, across various tissue types.
- A background in developing and optimizing disease efficacy models in murine systems.

Practical notes

The salary for this position ranges from $81,000 to $107,250. Compensation will be determined based on several factors, including qualifications, skills, and experience.
