Perth or remote within Western Australia

Our client is an established Australian engineering and agricultural machinery business with a strong presence across Western Australia.

They are seeking an experienced Head of Sales & Growth – Western Australia to lead sales and market development across the state, strengthen customer relationships and build a sustainable pipeline of profitable business.

This is a senior commercial role with a robust field-based focus. The successful candidate will spend significant time meeting farmers, contractors, dealers and agricultural businesses, developing a genuine understanding of their operations and identifying opportunities where the company’s products and capabilities can deliver value.

The role will suit someone who combines strong sales capability with practical agricultural knowledge and enjoys developing business through direct customer engagement.

The opportunity

The successful candidate will take ownership of sales and market development across Western Australia. They will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing existing customer relationships, managing major sales prospects and representing the business throughout key agricultural regions.

The role combines strategic territory planning with hands-on customer engagement. This includes regional travel, farm visits, machinery inspections, product demonstrations, quotations, negotiations and ongoing customer follow-up.

This is an opportunity to play a leading role in the continued development of an established Australian business and contribute directly to its position within the Western Australian agricultural market.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and implement the Western Australian sales and market-development strategy.
- Generate current business across agricultural and regional markets.
- Build long-term relationships with farmers, contractors, dealers and commercial customers.
- Manage sales opportunities from initial engagement through to quotation, negotiation and order.
- Conduct customer visits, machinery inspections, demonstrations and product presentations.
- Develop opportunities within both new and existing customer accounts.
- Establish a consistent regional visitation and customer-engagement program.

- Represent the business at field days, agricultural events and customer functions.
- Maintain professional and timely follow-up throughout the sales process.
- Build and manage a high-quality forward pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Identify regions, applications and customer segments with further market potential.
- Develop relationships with key industry participants, advisers and influencers.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing, product positioning and market trends.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, opportunity records and customer information.
- Provide commercial reporting and market intelligence to senior management.
- Gather structured feedback from farmers, operators and customers.
- Identify opportunities for new products and product improvements.
- Communicate Western Australian customer requirements to engineering and product teams.
- Assist with field testing, demonstrations and commercial validation of new products.
- Support the introduction and positioning of new products within the WA market.

The successful candidate

Our client is seeking an experienced sales and business-development professional with genuine agricultural knowledge and a demonstrated ability to build relationships within regional markets. The successful candidate will ideally offer:
- Practical experience in agriculture, agricultural machinery, broadacre farming, farm inputs, engineering, heavy equipment or a closely related sector.
- A strong understanding of farming operations and the commercial considerations influencing machinery purchases.
- A proven ability to generate new business and develop long-term customer relationships.
- Experience selling high-value equipment, machinery or technical solutions.
- The credibility to communicate effectively with farmers, contractors, operators and business owners.
- Confidence conducting demonstrations, inspections and technical discussions.
- Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills.

- A disciplined approach to opportunity management, forecasting and customer follow-up.
- The ability to work independently and manage a large geographic territory.
- Strong communication and relationship-building capability.
- A willingness to travel regularly throughout regional Western Australia.
- A practical, approachable and customer-focused style.

This role will particularly suit someone who enjoys spending time in the field and understands that strong agricultural sales are built through trust, consistency and a genuine understanding of the customer’s operation.

Location

Ideally, the successful candidate will be based within approximately one hour of Perth, allowing regular access to the company’s WA facilities and key customers. However, for the right person with strong agricultural experience and established industry credibility, the role may also be performed remotely from elsewhere in Western Australia.

Regional candidates are encouraged to apply where they can demonstrate the ability to manage statewide customer relationships, travel requirements and commercial responsibilities effectively.

Application requirements

Applicants must provide a cover letter clearly outlining their relevant agricultural experience. The cover letter should address:

- Experience within agriculture or agricultural machinery.
- Farming regions, customer groups or industry sectors previously worked with.
- Experience developing new business and managing high-value sales opportunities.
- Practical understanding of farming operations, machinery or technical equipment.
- Existing relationships or networks within the Western Australian agricultural sector.

Applications that do not clearly address relevant agricultural experience may not be considered.

The offer

This is an opportunity to take on a highly influential commercial role within an established Australian engineering and agricultural machinery business. The successful candidate will be provided with the autonomy, product platform and organisational support required to build meaningful customer relationships and develop the Western Australian market.

A competitive remuneration package, performance incentive and fully maintained vehicle will be offered, commensurate with experience.
