Workfast is seeking an experienced Mechanical Tradesperson / Fitter to join the site team for Australia’s largest integrated import and export logistics provider at the Newcastle Agri Terminal.
Pay Rate: $54.00 p/hr Overtime Super
Location: Carrington (Newcastle), NSW
Hours: Rostered Monday to Friday, 40-hour week weekend OT opportunities
Start Date: ASAP
This is a long-term opportunity working within a busy grain and materials handling environment, performing mechanical maintenance, installation, and fault-finding on heavy industrial equipment and conveyor systems.
What You Will Be Doing
- Performing routine, preventative, and breakdown mechanical maintenance on fixed plant machinery
- Executing industrial installations, fault-finding, and repairs safely and efficiently
- Working on conveyor belt systems, grain handling gear, and associated mechanical equipment
- Ensuring strict adherence to site safety protocols, including awareness of electrical equipment in hazardous areas
- Working both independently and collaboratively within an experienced site team
What You Need
- Mechanical Fitter trade qualification (Recognised Australian qualification)
- Proven experience in heavy industry, industrial installation, and fault-finding
- Hands-on experience with conveyor belt systems and associated mechanical infrastructure
- Familiarity with electrical equipment in hazardous environments
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, sound decision-making,
and active problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential)
- Previous experience in the grain industry or bulk materials handling Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
- EWP over 11 metres
- Confined Space Entry qualification
- RISI (Rail Industry Safety Induction)
- Forklift, Telehandler, or Front End Loader operations tickets
- Rigger or Dogman qualifications
