Your role at St John of God Social Outreach
We are seeking applications from experienced and compassionate Mental Health Clinicians (Psychologists, Mental Health Accredited Social Workers or Mental Health Occupational Therapists) to join our Social Outreach team in the Blacktown region of Western Sydney on a permanent full-time basis.
This unique role offers the opportunity to work across both Mental Wellbeing Services and Raphael Services, delivering integrated, evidence-based care across adult mental health and specialist perinatal and infant mental health services. You will provide therapeutic support to individuals, families and communities, helping clients achieve meaningful and sustainable mental health outcomes.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high-quality therapeutic interventions to clients aged 16 years and over under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, while also supporting women, infants, partners and families experiencing perinatal and infant mental health challenges. Working collaboratively with Psychology, Mental Health Social Work and Occupational Therapy clinicians, you will be supported by a dedicated administration team to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
The Position
- Provide comprehensive assessment, case formulation and care planning for a diverse and complex caseload across both service streams.
- Deliver evidence-based individual and group therapeutic interventions tailored to client needs.
- Support clients experiencing mental health concerns, including perinatal and infant mental health presentations.
- Work collaboratively with mothers, infants, partners and families to enhance wellbeing and strengthen family relationships.
- Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams, GPs, referrers and external service providers to support integrated care.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, case notes and professional correspondence in accordance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate reflective practice and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Uphold professional,
ethical and legal standards in accordance with AHPRA, AASW/APS, ACHS and St John of God Health Care policies and procedures.
- Contribute to a safe environment through adherence to the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
About You
- You will hold a tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy, with current registration or eligibility for membership with the relevant professional body. For Social Workers, current Mental Health Accreditation with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) is an essential requirement for this role. You will also be eligible to obtain a Medicare Provider Number.
- You will bring demonstrated experience delivering evidence-based mental health interventions, with strong clinical reasoning, communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in, or a robust interest in, perinatal and infant mental health will be highly regarded.

We can offer you
- Salary: $75,038 – $118,246 plus 12% superannuation – Commensurate with your level.
- Permanent full-time position, working 38 hours a week.

We are unable to consider Social Workers who are currently working towards accreditation or who do not yet hold Mental Health Accreditation.
