About the Role

The Head of Safeguarding and Member Protection provides strategic leadership of Scouts NSW's safeguarding, child-safe and member protection function. Reporting to the Chief Risk & Integrity Officer, you will lead a specialist team responsible for safeguarding and conduct matters, complaints, investigations, serious incidents, compliance assurance and continuous improvement.

This key leadership role ensures Scouts NSW remains a safe, trusted and compliant organisation for young people, volunteers and employees, while driving best practice in safeguarding, risk management and member protection.

In this role you will:

Lead the end-to-end incident response function, ensuring matters are managed consistently and effectively.

Oversee safeguarding,



conduct and investigation processes, providing guidance on complex and high-risk matters.

Ensure compliance with the Child Safe Standards, mandatory reporting obligations and other legislative requirements.

Build strong relationships with regulators and external agencies, including NSW Police and the Office of the Children's Guardian.

Analyse incident trends and provide reporting and insights that support organisational improvement.

Lead and develop a high-performing Response & Assurance team while driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and governance.

About You

We're looking for a confident and experienced leader with a background in incident management, safeguarding, investigations, integrity, compliance or a similar environment.

You will bring:

Significant experience managing complex incidents, investigations or safeguarding matters.

Robust knowledge of child protection legislation, Child Safe Standards and procedural fairness.

Proven leadership experience, with the ability to coach teams and manage competing priorities.

Excellent judgement, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent senior experience in investigations, policing, risk, compliance or a related field.
