The Impact of the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Associate Director Finance is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic financial leadership across Oxfam Australia.

As a trusted adviser to the Executive Leadership Team, you will lead the organisation's finance function while ensuring robust financial management, governance and compliance. You'll partner with leaders across the organisation to support strategic planning, strengthen financial capability and provide the insights that enable confident, informed decision making.

Leading a capable finance team, you'll oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, reporting, risk management and financial systems, while supporting the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee and Board. This is a unique opportunity to influence the financial sustainability and future direction of one of Australia's leading international development organisations.

Key responsibilities include:

- Provide strategic financial leadership across Oxfam Australia, partnering closely with the COO,



CEO and Executive Leadership Team.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary finance team, creating a culture of psychological safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Deliver robust financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and long term financial modelling that supports organisational strategy.
- Lead treasury management, cash flow forecasting, investments, foreign exchange oversight and working capital management.
- Ensure high quality financial reporting, strong internal controls, statutory compliance and audit readiness.
- Provide financial oversight across diverse funding streams including philanthropy, government grants, institutional funding and international programs.
- Lead finance support for the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee (FRAC) and contribute to Board reporting.
- Drive improvements across finance systems, procurement, reporting frameworks and organisational financial capability.
- Partner with leaders across the organisation to provide commercial advice that supports informed, sustainable decision making.

About You

You are an experienced senior finance leader who combines strong technical capability with exceptional leadership and relationship management skills.

You enjoy operating at both strategic and operational levels, comfortably moving between Board reporting, long term financial planning and partnering with your team through complex budgeting or financial management challenges. You lead with humility, empathy and emotional intelligence, building trust quickly while creating high performing, engaged teams.

You'll also bring:

- CA or CPA qualified with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
- Significant senior financial leadership experience within a complex organisation, ideally managing large scale annual budgets.
- Strong expertise across financial reporting,



governance, treasury, risk management, budgeting and strategic financial planning.
- Experience presenting to committees or executive leadership teams and /or Boards.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with Executive Leadership Teams and Boards, providing strategic financial advice to inform organisational decision-making.
- A collaborative leadership style with proven experience coaching, developing and leading multidisciplinary finance teams.
- The confidence to provide constructive challenge while building trusted relationships across a broad stakeholder group.
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical organisational decisions.
