Following a significant Board renewal program over the past twelve months, we are now seeking a Director – Finance & Investment to complete the Board's strategic capability framework.

This is an opportunity to join a highly engaged Board and play a key leadership role in ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of one of regional Victoria's leading community-owned aged care organisations.

About the role

Working alongside an experienced Board and executive leadership team, you will contribute to:

Strategic financial oversight and governance

Investment governance and capital allocation

Long-term capital planning and redevelopment

The is a governance role rather than an operational accounting position.

We are seeking candidates with:

Senior finance leadership experience (such as CFO, Finance Director, Executive Finance Leader or equivalent)

Strong financial literacy and governance capability

Experience interpreting financial information to support strategic decision-making

The ability to chair a Board Finance & Investment Committee

Excellent communication,

judgement and Board-level leadership skills

Highly desirable experience

Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

Aged care finance

Health or community services

Capital planning and infrastructure investment

Organisational growth or major redevelopment projects

Experience within the aged care sector would be highly regarded, particularly an understanding of areas such as funding models, accommodation funding, capital management and long-term financial sustainability.

Previous Board experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from experienced finance executives seeking their first Non-Executive Director appointment, provided they can demonstrate strong governance capability and alignment with Aberlea's values.

Board commitment

Board meetings are held quarterly, with two meetings each year conducted in person in Mortlake. Finance & Investment Committee meetings are also held quarterly, with flexibility to participate via videoconference where appropriate.

Why join Aberlea?

Make a meaningful contribution to the future of aged care in regional Victoria.

Help guide a respected, community-owned organisation through a once-in-a-generation period of sector reform.

Influence significant strategic investment, redevelopment and financial sustainability initiatives.

Join a highly cooperative Board committed to strong governance and community impact.

These voluntary Board positions provide an outstanding opportunity for an experienced finance leader to make a genuine and lasting contribution to the future of aged care in regional Victoria.
