Immigration Lawyer (3+ Years PAE) — Run Every Visa Type, End to End
Visa Plan Pty Ltd Melbourne VIC (Hybrid) | Immigration – Law Firm (Legal) | Full time $90,000 – $110,000 per year, plus superannuation
Fast-Growing Law Firm | Be Rewarded for Your Impact
Visa Plan is seeking an experienced Immigration Lawyer with at least three (3) years of post-admission experience to run visa and citizenship matters end to end, across all visa types, with minimal supervision.
You must hold, or be eligible to hold, a current Australian practising certificate and have a strong, demonstrated background in Australian immigration and citizenship law, including hands‑on experience preparing and lodging visa applications.
Why Visa Plan?
We are a growing, ambitious migration law practice built on the belief that positive technology should do the repetitive work so good lawyers don't have to. We invest heavily in automation and internal systems, and we are constantly refining them.
That means the lawyers we hire spend their time on judgement, strategy, and client outcomes, not on manual admin. It also means you need to be genuinely comfortable adopting new tools and workflows as we build them.
What Will You Do?
Run visa and citizenship matters independently, end to end, across the full range of visa subclasses.
You will:
Own a caseload across all available visa types and manage it independently
Assess client circumstances, advise on strategy, and identify risk before matters are lodged
Prepare and lodge applications that are legally sound, evidentially strong, and ready to withstand scrutiny
Respond to Department requests, refusals, and other complications as they arise
Provide internal legal subject matter support to colleagues, including ad hoc advice on client eligibility and options
Work inside our internal systems and protocols, and give direct feedback on potential improvements
Adopt new tools and processes as we roll them out
Who We Want
Around 3 years' post-admission experience in Australian immigration and citizenship law
Genuine hands‑on experience preparing and lodging visa applications
Proven ability to run matters independently
Strong digital literacy and comfort working across multiple software systems
Excellent written drafting and sound legal judgement
Highly regarded:
Experience across a broad range of visa subclasses (skilled, family, employer-sponsored, business/investor, protection, or citizenship)
Prior exposure to legal automation, case management systems, or process‑driven practices
A track record of high file throughput without a drop in quality
What We Offer
Hybrid work: 3 days in-office, 2 days WFH, following probation
A genuinely independent role — you own your files
Tech-enabled practice: modern systems built to remove admin, not add to it
A culture of high standards, low politics, and direct accountability
The chance to shape our systems and tools, not just use them
If you want to practise immigration law in full — running your own files, across every visa type, without your week disappearing into admin — Visa Plan is where you belong.
