Hill Street Grocer | Devonport

We are looking for full‑time and part‑time/casual butchery team members to join our beautiful Devonport store.

As a Butchery Team Member , you’ll support our butchers in preparing, wrapping, and presenting a wide range of fresh meat and poultry products. You’ll maintain clean, well‑stocked and attractive displays, ensure products are handled safely, and assist customers with their requests at the counter.

Responsibilities

You will: support butchers with product preparation; maintain displays; enforce safety practices; and assist customers at the counter.

Qualifications

- Proven experience in wrapping and packing meat.
- Skill in preparing value‑added meat products.
- A friendly attitude and robust communication skills.
- A love of working with food and people (customers and colleagues alike).
- Energy, initiative, and a willingness to take and give direction.
- The ability to follow company procedures and regulatory requirements.




- Physical fitness and stamina, enabling you to stand for long periods and perform manual handling, bending and lifting/moving of heavy items.
- Ongoing daytime availability on at least 3–4 days per week and every second weekend. Your standard roster will be agreed based on your availability and our operational requirements, with flexibility to suit your needs.

Pay Rates

Pay rates are set by the General Retail Industry Award. 2026‑2027 Base Hourly Pay Rates for Level 1 adults are:

Full time & part time

- Weekdays: $27.81
- Saturday: $34.76
- Sunday: $41.72

Casual

- Weekdays: $34.76
- Saturday: $41.72
- Sunday: $48.67

Additional penalty rates apply to public holidays and some overtime and early morning shifts.
