Senior Health and Safety Advisor The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join our high-performing project team delivering a Level Crossing Removal Project in Kuraby.
This is a hands-on, site-based role working within an established construction team, where safety is embedded in daily operations. You’ll play a critical role in driving safe outcomes on a complex infrastructure project involving rail interfaces, traffic management, and major civil works.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert WHS guidance across all site activities, ensuring compliance with Queensland safety legislation and TMR requirements
Partner closely with supervisors, engineers, and project leaders to embed practical safety solutions
Lead and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Drive proactive hazard identification and facilitate daily pre-starts and toolbox talks
Monitor safety performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Support subcontractors to ensure alignment with project safety expectations and systems
Promote a culture of accountability, leadership, and safe behaviours across the team
About You
You’re a confident and approachable safety leader who thrives in a team-based construction environment and is comfortable being on site, engaging with crews and driving outcomes.
Essential
Proven experience as a Senior Safety Advisor (or robust Safety Advisor ready to step up)
Background in civil construction, rail, or major infrastructure projects
Strong working knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation
Demonstrated experience managing high-risk construction activities (e.g. rail interfaces, traffic, confined spaces, lifting operations)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels on site
Diploma in Work Health & Safety (minimum)
Desirable
Experience working on TMR or rail corridor projects
ICAM (or equivalent) investigation training
Lead Auditor qualification
