Blank Theory is looking for an experienced SEO Lead to lead our team and improve how SEO is delivered across the agency. You will combine strong SEO knowledge with AI, automation and data to solve complex problems, improve performance and build more scalable ways of working.

The Opportunity

This is a leadership role for someone who already knows how to do the work but wants to improve the systems behind it. You will work closely with our SEO specialists, developers, content team and Automation Engineer to build more reliable and efficient SEO workflows. The role combines technical SEO and search strategy with LLMs, AI agents, APIs and automation. Your focus will be on improving how work is completed, reviewed and scaled across multiple client accounts.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead SEO specialists, developers and content teams by building scalable processes, reviewing output and improving work quality across the agency.
- Work with our Automation Engineer to automate on-page, off-page, technical and competitor audits. You must understand how to perform the work, but your focus will be designing, validating and improving the systems behind it.
- Identify and scope repetitive SEO tasks for automation, then work with our Automation Engineer to build workflows across research, reporting, audits, briefs and quality assurance.
- Turn search, competitor and performance data into clear recommendations for SEO specialists, account managers and content teams.
- Improve how keyword research, content briefs, internal linking recommendations and content structures are generated, reviewed and delivered at scale.
- Oversee GA4, Google Search Console, schema, tracking and SEO reporting systems, ensuring the data is accurate and important actions are surfaced automatically.




- Build automated processes for identifying and scoring link-building opportunities based on authority, relevance and risk.
- Monitor SEO automations, review exceptions, resolve issues and ensure outputs meet agency standards.
- Stay across changes in search, AI Overviews, LLMs and emerging platforms, turning relevant developments into practical improvements for client strategies and internal systems.

Your Toolkit

- Experience leading SEO specialists, reviewing work and maintaining quality across multiple client accounts.
- Deep understanding of technical SEO, search architecture, site migrations and how websites are crawled, indexed and ranked.
- Ability to translate SEO requirements into clear technical briefs for developers and engineers.
- Experience designing SEO workflows that use APIs, scripts and automation platforms, with the ability to clearly scope requirements for an engineer.
- Demonstrated experience applying LLMs, AI agents and prompt design to SEO workflows, including testing and validating outputs.
- Strong data skills, with the ability to combine information from GA4, Google Search Console, Semrush and other platforms.
- Experience designing scalable systems for audits, migrations, content briefs, internal linking and competitor analysis.
- Ability to balance automation with sound SEO judgement,



knowing when a process can be automated and when human review is required.
