Sustainability Consultant | Embodied Carbon and LCA Specialist (Sydney / Adelaide / Brisbane / Melbourne) Inspire a better world through influence and design.
Ready to put your embodied carbon expertise to work on projects that genuinely shape how Australia builds? We are growing our Building Services team and looking for an experienced Sustainability Consultant to join our Sustainability team. This role is primarily based in Sydney , with the option to be based in Adelaide, Brisbane or Melbourne for the right person. You'll work on a diverse portfolio of high-impact projects, leading embodied carbon and Life Cycle Assessments that influence how Australia's built environment is designed and delivered.
Please note: Applicants must reside in Australia and hold full Australian working rights, as this role does not offer visa sponsorship.
Who We Are
Founded in 2011 in Australia, ADP Consulting is a trusted, sustainability-led engineering consultancy with an international footprint that is renowned for finding the best technical and sustainable solutions to the most complex projects, wherever these may be.
ADP Consulting is committed to inspiring a better world through influence and design, collaborating with industry leaders who are equally as passionate about innovation, design excellence and, importantly, our impact on the planet.
ADP Consulting has now joined forces with Ayesa, one of the world's largest technology and engineering companies, in a move that facilitates new pathways and accelerates our growth.
What is your role?
- You'll lead the delivery of embodied carbon assessments and Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) across a diverse portfolio of projects, applying industry-leading tools such as One Click LCA, NABERS Embodied Carbon and BIM-enabled workflows. Working closely with architects, engineers, contractors and clients from concept design through to project delivery, you'll translate complex carbon data into clear, practical recommendations that directly influence design, procurement and material selection decisions.
- You'll develop and facilitate embodied carbon reduction strategies, identify opportunities to minimise whole-of-life emissions, and support project teams in achieving ambitious sustainability outcomes through evidence-based advice.
- Beyond technical delivery, you'll contribute to Green Star certification, NABERS Embodied Carbon assessments, circular economy and circularity assessments, and National Construction Code (NCC) sustainability requirements. You'll prepare high-quality technical reports and client presentations,
lead workshops, mentor junior team members, and help continuously improve ADP's carbon methodologies, digital tools and workflows.
- Upfront Carbon and LCA modelling and consulting are a core focus of this role. However, there are opportunities to be involved in all aspects of sustainability consulting, including managing the sustainability aspects of projects that are targeting ratings such as Green Star, WELL, and/or NABERS. Alternatively, there are opportunities to become more experienced in building physics.
- This is an opportunity to play a leading role in one of Australia's growing embodied carbon practices, where your expertise will shape project outcomes, influence industry best practice, and contribute directly to ADP's vision of delivering practical, measurable carbon reduction across the built environment.
Why Sustainability Consultants Are Choosing ADP Right Now
- Sustainability is core to ADP's identity, not a service line added to tick a box, which means your work has genuine weight in every project conversation.
- A diverse and complex project portfolio, with embodied carbon and LCA work embedded from early design rather than bolted on at the end.
- A true multidisciplinary environment where you collaborate directly with mechanical, electrical, structural and hydraulic engineers, making your carbon advice more informed and more impactful.
- Flexible location and hybrid options across Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne, with strong office flexibility built into how the team works.
About You
- You are an experienced sustainability consultant with specialist expertise in embodied carbon, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and circular economy principles, and you are passionate about helping shape a lower-carbon built environment through practical, evidence-based design advice.
- You have hands-on experience delivering embodied carbon assessments and life cycle analyses across building projects in the Australian market, ideally utilising the One Click LCA software.
- You are confident engaging directly with clients and multidisciplinary design teams, translating technical carbon data into clear,
commercially practical recommendations that influence material selection, procurement strategies, and design outcomes.
- You have experience in analysing Bills of Quantities (BoQs), BIM models, and material take-offs to develop accurate LCA models.
- A bonus is that you have experience developing circular economy strategies and undertaking circularity assessments using the One Click LCA Building Circularity Tool or equivalent methodologies.
- A NABERS Embodied Carbon Skilled qualification is preferred, but not necessary.
- You possess working knowledge of Australian sustainability frameworks, including Green Star Buildings certification, NABERS Embodied Carbon assessments, the National Construction Code (NCC), and relevant Australian standards and reporting requirements.
- You write and communicate clearly, producing client advisory reports that are useful to a non-specialist audience without losing technical accuracy.
- You hold a relevant tertiary qualification in sustainability, architecture, engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline.
