Position description

An exciting chance exists for an enthusiastic, organised, and highly motivated medical scientist to join our busy Chemical Pathology Department located in Collingwood.

This is an 18-month fixed-term, overnight position, 38 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday. Participation in public holiday shifts is required. The shift commences at 11:50 pm the day before and ends at 08:00 am the following morning.

In this role you will

- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, QC, calibration and sample testing on laboratory instrumentation
- Interpretation, checking and authorisation of results.





The successful applicant will have

- A minimum of two years’ experience in a chemical pathology diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience (preferred)
- A Bachelor of Applied Science (MLS) or Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry major preferred), or recognised equivalent
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems and scientific instrumentation/equipment in a pathology laboratory
- The ability to work as part of a busy team and independently
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Awareness of laboratory occupational health and safety issues.
