Job details
Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
Infrastructure Engineering Expert describes the function that manages and maintains all ICT platforms, including all technical landscape design, installation, configuration, deployment, technical security and operation of ICT components and databases.
Infrastructure Engineering Experts use their in-depth knowledge of specific ICT Platforms to provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of those platforms.
They work closely with key third party suppliers to ensure the provision of a robust infrastructure capability to the business and liaise with architecture and shared services areas to ensure the security of the day-to-day technical operations.
Infrastructure Engineering Experts exercise a considerable degree of independence, with decision-making substantially dependent on their high-level judgement and consideration of wider agency implications, with work being performed under the general guidance of senior staff.
In performing a leadership role, Infrastructure Engineering Experts drive innovation, changes in workplace practices and organises work in the context of competing priorities and strategic direction.
Key duties and responsibilities
Duties may include some or all of the following:
assist with delivery of an optimal strategic system landscape
manage the design, installation and operation of the ICT system instance landscape, client and transport processes
provide broad technical support for project build, test and solution deployment activities
configure and manage all non-functional platform capabilities including job scheduling, output management, email, archiving, technical security, technical connectivity between software components
liaise with the infrastructure team in the design, procurement and deployment of hardware and related assets
manage technical operations for ICT solutions and interfaces
develop plans for backups and disaster recovery, and execute those plans when necessary
perform problem management and root cause analysis
lead and manage operations of a team, including overseeing work priorities and resource management
proactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues
collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
attend meetings and forums with vendors to influence business outcomes and share information
prepare and review a range of technical documentation and reports
Technical skills:
1.Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining multiple integrated non-production environments.
1.Demonstrated experience working in a containerised Linux workplace.
2.Knowledge of M204 and SOUL.
3.Demonstrated experience delivering complex changes in a fast-paced environment.
4.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
