Our client is a highly regarded Australian construction business with a strong reputation in the delivery of complex commercial insurance and major loss projects.
Supported by established relationships across the insurance industry and a growing pipeline of work, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Major Loss Commercial Estimator to its Sydney team.
The position will provide exposure to a broad range of complex claims across sectors including education, healthcare, aged care, retail, industrial and government. You will work closely with an experienced construction and insurance team to develop detailed pricing, coordinate trade input and contribute to commercially sound cost plans & tender submissions.

Key Responsibilities
- Review available claim information, consultant reports, drawings and tender documentation
- Develop detailed pricing for commercial insurance reinstatement and rectification projects
- Prepare tender submissions, cost plans, qualifications, exclusions and clarifications
- Work with insurers, loss adjusters, brokers, consultants, clients and internal delivery teams
- Assist with cost reviews and variations where required during the project lifecycle
- Provide a clear and comprehensive handover to the project delivery team following tender award
About You
- Demonstrated experience in commercial construction estimating within the Australian market
- Exposure to major loss insurance would be highly advantageous. However complex reinstatement, remedial or heavy refurbishment projects would be well suited.
- Solid capability in first principles estimating, measurement and subcontractor analysis
- Sound knowledge of commercial building methodology and construction sequencing
- Strong commercial judgement and a high level of accuracy
- Experience with CostX or comparable estimating software is desirable
