Store Manager - Fuel & Fresh Food Retail

The Station Grocer is a well-established, family-owned convenience and fuel retail business with 10 stores across the Northern Rivers. With nearly two decades of service behind us, we pride ourselves on delivering quality fuel, fresh food, great products, and outstanding customer service — every day.

We're looking for an experienced and driven Store Manager to lead our largest store at Lennox Head, with a strong focus on fresh food operations and high-volume retail environments.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the store's daily operations, with a strong emphasis on fresh food standards, stock control, presentation, and team performance.

Your regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm. As the Store Manager, you'll also be responsible for ensuring appropriate staffing outside these hours, including managing the casual roster, responding to unplanned absences, and arranging shift coverage when required. While the role offers consistent daytime hours, a reasonable level of after-hours availability is expected as part of managing a busy retail operation.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing day-to-day store operations including customer service, merchandising, inventory control, and safety compliance.
- Leading fresh food and convenience retail operations, ensuring quality, food safety, and stock rotation standards are consistently met.
- Driving sales through strong product presentation, waste control, and effective rostering.
- Leading, training, coaching, and developing a team to deliver effective service in a fast-paced environment.
- Managing recruitment, onboarding, performance, and team engagement.
- Managing employee rosters, including after-hours coordination of casual staff and arranging replacement shifts when required.




- Maintaining compliance with company policies and relevant industry regulations.
- Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and the local community.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a leader who understands fast-paced food-based retail environments.

Essential:

- 3–4+ years' experience managing within fresh food retail, supermarket, convenience retail, or high-volume food-based operations.
- Proven experience overseeing stock control, waste management, and food safety standards.
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing medium-sized teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage wages, budgets, and key performance targets.
- Excellent customer service and people management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.
- Willingness to be contactable outside normal working hours to coordinate staffing and manage operational issues when required.

Highly regarded:

- Experience in fresh produce, grocery, convenience retail, or supermarket environments.
- Experience managing perishable stock.
- Food Safety Supervisor certification.

Australian work rights are required for this position.

Position Details

- Salary: $80,000–$90,000 (based on experience).
- Full-time position.
- 40 hours per week.
- Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm.
- After-hours responsibility: As the Store Manager, you will oversee casual staffing and rostering outside standard hours, including responding to unexpected absences and ensuring all shifts remain appropriately covered.
