Toensure the provisionandsupervisionof premiumqualitycareforpeople withintellectualand/orphysicaldisabilityin thecommunity, grouphousingandor institutions.

Toprovidesupport andinformationtoclients,guidance onemotional,recreational,healthorother socialwelfarematters.

Tosupportadiverserange ofclients,assessing clients'needsandplanning,developingandimplementingeducational,trainingandsupport programswhomay havethe following:

sensoryimpairment(deaf, blind)

braininjury (frontal lobeortemporal lobesyndrome)

autismspectrumdisorder

Alcoholandother addictions

Social disadvantage and/or complex needs

Helpinsupervisionofresidentswithintheircommunity, inhomeorinagrouphomeandassist insocialandlivingskills andtrainingtoencourageindependencyin thecommunity.

Toensuremonitoringandreportingontheprogress ofclients

Assistinginserving mealsandperforminganyotherhousekeepingdutiesthatare required.

Tobeabletoperformindependentlywithpeoplewithdisabilitiesonaone-to-onebasisencouragingclientstodevelop personal,communityandsocialrelationships

Toworkcooperativelyandeffectivelywitharangeofprofessionalsandservicestoenhanceclient care.





Toliaisewiththecommunity andlocalsupport groupsornetworks toencourageactivitiesandtrainingfor peoplewith disability.

Toeducateclients’behaviouralstandards bycompilingdisciplinaryreportsandassisting intheimplementationof any requiredremedialmeasures.

Participate inaction-basedresearch andimplementoutcomes inclinicalpractice

To identifytheneedsofclients andmanageanapproachtohealthservice delivery

Demonstratetheuseofinitiative andabilityto priorities workandtimemanagementskills

Towork ina safemannerinaccordancewithWorkHealth andSafety

Complywithrelevant legislation,regulations,standards,policiesandprocedures.

Understanding ofandcommitmenttocontinuousquality improvements

The entry requirement for this occupation is an AQF Diploma, Certificate in Disabilities or higherqualification, or at least 2 years relevant experience. In some instances, relevant experience isrequiredin additiontotheformal qualification

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to liaise with clients, families / carers andstaff.
