Lismore Preschool Incorporated is seeking a passionate and experienced Diploma Early Childhood Educator to join our team on a part-time basis. This is a maternity leave position (from 14th September 2026 for 12 months).

Based in Lismore, NSW 2480, this role is fundamental to providing high-quality early childhood education and care to our young learners. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a crucial role in fostering the development, wellbeing, and learning outcomes of children in our care, whilst creating a nurturing and inclusive environment that supports each child's unique needs and potential.

Key responsibilities

- Planning and delivering developmentally appropriate learning activities and experiences that support children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
- Supervising and safeguarding children to ensure their safety, wellbeing, and comfort at all times
- Building positive relationships with children and creating a welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
- Observing and assessing children's development, documenting their progress, and communicating observations with parents, carers, and colleagues
- Supporting children's transitions throughout the day and assisting with routines such as meals, rest time, and personal hygiene
- Collaborating with colleagues to maintain a clean, organised, and protected learning space that complies with relevant regulations and standards
- Communicating regularly with families about their child's development, activities, and wellbeing
- Implementing behaviour guidance strategies that are positive, consistent, and supportive
- Staying current with early childhood education best practices and participating in professional development opportunities

What we're looking for

- A relevant qualification in early childhood education, such as a Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent recognised qualification
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification promptly




- A current Working with Children Check (or eligibility to obtain one) as required by New South Wales regulations
- Demonstrated understanding of child development theories and pedagogical approaches in early childhood education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with children, families, and colleagues
- Strong organisational and time management abilities to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- A genuine passion for early childhood education and a commitment to supporting children's holistic development
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team whilst maintaining individual initiative and responsibility
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic early childhood environment
- An understanding of and commitment to child protection, safeguarding, and inclusion principles
- Experience working with diverse families and culturally responsive practice is highly valued
