Steeline Frames & Sheds – Slacks Creek QLD

SteelWorX Group is a Queensland building and construction company operating across four divisions. We're flat out, with a steady pipeline of work, and we've moved our detailing onto Vertex BD. We're looking for a detailer who takes pride in getting it right — someone who produces accurate, buildable light gauge steel housing designs and owns their work from first layout to fabrication.

This is a role for someone with genuine standards. If you spot the error before it reaches the shop floor, work cleanly under a deadline, and want your drawings to be the ones installers trust, we want to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Design & drafting

- Create layouts, sections and fabrication-ready shop drawings for single and double-storey light gauge steel housing.
- Interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately.
- Make sure designs meet building codes,



industry standards and company requirements.

Project delivery

- Manage multiple detailing tasks across different projects.
- Deliver to agreed timelines and production targets, without dropping accuracy.

Coordination & communication

- Work with engineers, architects, internal teams and site stakeholders.
- Raise RFIs, resolve technical queries, and keep clear, accurate design records.
- Support installers and trades with practical technical guidance.

Quality & improvement

- Check your own work and take part in peer review.
- Help improve our drafting processes and keep documentation well organised.

Team & safety

- Support and mentor junior detailers as you grow into the role.
- Consider safety and site constraints in your designs, and apply duty of care throughout.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Essential

- Detailing or drafting experience in Vertex, FrameCAD, Tekla, AutoCAD or similar.
- Robust ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- High attention to detail and a structured, methodical way of working.
- Good spatial reasoning and problem-solving — an eye for finding and fixing design errors.
- Clear communicator who works well independently and in a team.

Nice to have

- Experience in Australian residential construction.
- Exposure to steel or timber framing systems.
- A fabrication-focused drafting background.
