Role Overview

The Human Resources Officer (Recruitment) provides practical support across the employee lifecycle, with a strong focus on coordinating Council’s end-to-end recruitment activities. Working closely with the Senior Human Resources Officer, HR Business Partners and leaders across Council, this position ensures recruitment and human resources processes are delivered efficiently, accurately and in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures, awards and certified agreements.

Job Offering

- Base salary - $88,906 - $95,317
- 12% superannuation
- Relocation assistance can be discussed
- 9 day fortnight (1 RDO every two weeks)
- 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading

Key Responsibilities

- Manage recruitment activities from initial vacancy approval through to appointment, ensuring each stage is completed efficiently, consistently and in line with Council requirements.
- Support hiring managers with recruitment planning, candidate communication, interview coordination, selection documentation and pre-employment processes.
- Respond to workforce-related enquiries from employees and leaders, providing clear guidance or referring more complex matters to the appropriate HR specialist.
- Prepare employment documentation, including offers, variations, internal transfers and separation correspondence.
- Keep employee and recruitment information accurate, current and securely recorded across Council’s HR systems.
- Assist the broader HR team with employee relations matters, including fact-finding, workplace concerns and performance processes.
- Contribute to the review and improvement of HR procedures, templates and administrative workflows.
- Produce professional reports, letters, records and other documentation to support day-to-day HR operations.
- Work closely with HR Business Partners and other People, Safety and Culture team members to deliver a consistent and responsive service.
- Assist with workforce projects, organisational initiatives and internal events as required.




- Identify emerging issues and escalated matters that may create operational, employee or organisational risk.
- Share knowledge and provide practical guidance to less experienced team members when required.
- Perform other duties appropriate to the position’s level of responsibility, skills and experience.

Qualifications and Experience

- A relevant certificate-level HR qualification, or practical experience gained in an HR coordination, recruitment or administrative position.
- Previous involvement in recruitment processes, HR administration or employee lifecycle activities.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines, competing tasks and detailed information accurately.
- A practical understanding of HR principles, employment documentation and workplace processes, or the capacity to quickly develop this knowledge.
- Sound judgement when handling private, sensitive or employee-related information.
- A collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to contribute positively within a close-knit team.
- Strong capability across Microsoft Office, HR databases and other workplace technology.
- A professional and composed manner when dealing with confidential, challenging or time-sensitive situations.
- Experience working within Local Government or another complex, policy-driven organisation would be advantageous.
