Job Location: Pinkenba, QLD

Workfast is looking for an experienced Leading Hand Mechanical Fitter to join a Waste Management & Recycling Facility in Pinkenba, QLD. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced Mechanical Fitter with a strong background in fixed plant maintenance. You will lead a small maintenance team while carrying out preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, shutdown work, and continuous improvement projects to keep the plant operating safely and efficiently.

Workfast is a labour hire company working with some of Australia's largest employers across the construction, manufacturing, transport, mining and industrial sectors. We are currently seeking an experienced Leading Hand Mechanical Fitter to join our client's maintenance team at their Waste Management & Recycling Facility.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise a small team of Mechanical Fitters and maintenance personnel
- Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing and breakdown repairs on fixed plant equipment
- Prioritise maintenance tasks to minimise plant downtime
- Diagnose mechanical faults and coordinate repairs efficiently
- Work on conveyors, shredders, screens, pumps,



gearboxes and other recycling plant equipment
- Assist with shutdowns, plant upgrades and new equipment installations
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company procedures
- Mentor apprentices and junior tradespeople where required
- Communicate effectively with operations to ensure maintenance schedules are met

What You Bring to the Team

- Trade Qualification as a Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Turner
- Previous experience in a Leading Hand or Senior Mechanical Fitter position
- Strong background working on fixed plant within recycling, manufacturing, quarry, mining or heavy industrial environments
- Proven ability to lead a maintenance team and coordinate daily workloads
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Full Australian working rights
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol test
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and delivering quality workmanship
