The People Branch delivers strategic and operational human resources services across the AEC, supporting employees, managers and business areas through advice, proactive support and workforce solutions. The branch is responsible for a broad range of functions, including workforce planning and analysis, recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, and employee work health and safety.

The Attraction and Recruitment Section plays a key role in assisting the AEC to attract, recruit and retain a capable and diverse workforce across the agency. The section partners with business areas to deliver end-to-end recruitment services whilst providing assistance that allows the AEC to meet its operational requirements.

The section provides expert advice, manages recruitment processes, promotes best practice and works to ensure a positive experience for candidates and hiring managers.

The key duties of the position include:

The Attraction and Recruitment section within People Branch is seeking to recruit APS 4 and APS 5 Recruitment Advisors and Onboarding Officers.

These roles support the delivery of end-to-end recruitment and onboarding services, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant outcomes in line with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines. Working collaboratively with hiring managers, candidates and internal stakeholders, Recruitment Advisors and Onboarding Officers provide advice, administrative support and customer-focused service across the recruitment lifecycle,



while contributing to a positive and seamless onboarding experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing and quick paced team that supports the AEC and its day-to-day recruitment activities. As part of a customer-service focused team, you will build rapport and maintain stakeholder relationships while resolving simple to moderately complex enquiries to support the AEC in the lead up to, and during, an electoral event.

To excel you’ll have:

APS 4 – Recruitment Advisor & Onboarding Officer

- Experience in onboarding, recruitment, human resources, administration or a related field, with the ability to apply established policies, procedures and business processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate outcomes within required timeframes and legislative parameters.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and provide high-quality customer service.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to achieving quality outcomes while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve routine issues, escalating more complex matters where required.
- Ability to contribute to continuous improvement activities and support the implementation of changes to recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment while adapting to changing business priorities.

APS 5 – Recruitment Advisor & Onboarding Officer

- Demonstrated experience in onboarding, recruitment, human resources, administration or a related field, including the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and legislative requirements while providing guidance to others.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify risks, issues and emerging trends, implement mitigations and exercise sound judgement when resolving complex matters.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities for business improvement, contribute to change initiatives and support implementation of improved processes and practices.




- Demonstrated ability to manage staff while developing capabilities, encouraging career development and promoting professionalism.
- Demonstrated personal integrity and sound judgement whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.

Desirable

- Relevant qualifications and/or experience in human resources, recruitment, onboarding or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly gain knowledge of, APS human resource and recruitment systems, including but not limited to Aurion, ServiceNow, Fit2Work and Objective.

- AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
- Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
