Based in Glossodia in the Hawkesbury Region of New South Wales, Gourmet Herbs Pty Ltd is a leading horticultural producer of hydroponically grown herbs and edible flowers for the Sydney Markets.
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Farm Manager to join our team in a full-time, hands-on role.
This position involves assisting with the daily operation of the farm, including picking and packing produce, maintaining the germination house and completing general grounds and property maintenance.
Applicants must be able to arrange their own reliable transport to the workplace, as public transport is not available.
Picking and packing herbs and edible flowers
Looking after and maintaining the germination house
Mowing, including operating a zero-turn mower
Whipper snipping
Hedging and pruning
Weed spraying
General grounds and property maintenance
Assisting with other farm and production duties as required

Key duties
- Picking and packing herbs and edible flowers
- Looking after and maintaining the germination house
- Mowing, including operating a zero-turn mower
- Whipper snipping
- Hedging and pruning
- Weed spraying
- General grounds and property maintenance
- Assisting with other farm and production duties as required
Required licences and attributes
Applicants must have:
- A current ChemCert accreditation
- A current forklift licence
- The ability to safely operate a zero-turn mower
- A strong work ethic and reliable attendance
- The physical capacity to undertake hands-on farm and grounds maintenance work
- The ability to work outdoors and as part of a team
- Reliable private transport
- Full Australian working rights
Previous horticultural experience is desirable but not essential, as training in Gourmet Herbs’ work practices and procedures will be provided.
Ordinary working hours
This is a full-time position working 38 ordinary hours per week across Monday to Saturday.
Summer roster
- Monday to Wednesday: 4.00 am to 10.30 am
- Thursday and Friday: 4.00 am to 12.30 pm
- Saturday: 4.00 am to 8.00 am
Winter roster
- Monday to Wednesday: 7.00 am to 1.30 pm
- Thursday and Friday: 7.00 am to 3.30 pm
- Saturday: 7.00 am to 11.00 am
The Monday-to-Friday shifts include a 30-minute unpaid meal break. Start and finish times may vary slightly depending on seasonal and operational requirements.
The successful applicant must be available to work the seasonal rosters shown above, including the regular Saturday shift.
Drug and alcohol testing is a pre-employment requirement.
