Families Together Practitioner – Fluent in Turkish (full-time, fixed term)

Full time fixed-term contract until June 2027 (35 hours per week)

Metro Assist and CABL Limited (formerly Metro Migrant Resource Centre) are seeking experienced and committed Families Together Practitioners to join our Families Together Family Preservation Program, supporting children and families to remain safe, connected, and together at home.

Families Together is a DCJ‑funded Family Preservation program working intensively with families whose children are at risk of entering, or escalating within, the statutory child protection system.

The program focuses on strengthening parenting capacity, improving family functioning, and supporting child safety outcomes through home-based and community-based service delivery.

Metro Assist and CABL Limited is a values‑driven community organisation, committed to social justice, equity, cultural safety, and inclusive practice.

As a Families Together Practitioner, you will deliver intensive family support and casework services to families experiencing complex and intersecting challenges, including trauma, parenting stress, mental health concerns, family violence, housing instability, and social isolation. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with the Families Together Team Leader and Child and Family Therapeutic Clinician to deliver coordinated, strengths-based support that prioritises child safety and family preservation. Services are delivered primarily through home visits and community outreach, requiring flexibility, strong engagement skills,



and sound professional judgement.

Key Responsibilities

- Engage families through respectful, strengths-based, and culturally safe relationship-building
- Undertake holistic strengths-and-needs and risk assessments
- Develop, implement, and review family-led case plans and safety plans
- Provide parenting support through coaching, modelling, psychoeducation, and practical assistance
- Monitor and respond to changes in risk, including mandatory reporting and information sharing
- Work collaboratively with the Therapeutic Clinician to embed therapeutic strategies into everyday practice
- Coordinate warm referrals and collaborate with DCJ, schools, health services, and community agencies
- Maintain accurate and timely case notes, assessments, outcome tools, and reports

About You

You are a motivated and values-driven practitioner who works effectively with families under pressure and keeps children’s safety and wellbeing at the centre of practice.

You must be available between the hours of 6am and 8pm to meet client requirements. You will be required to work 35 hours per week (7 hour working days).

Must be fluent in Turkish and able to provide high-quality support to clients from Turkish-speaking backgrounds.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Services,



Psychology, Welfare, or a related discipline
- Experience working with children and families experiencing complex needs and psychosocial challenges
- Knowledge of child-centered, family-led, and trauma-informed practice
- Understanding of mandatory reporting and child protection frameworks
- Ability to engage families respectfully within a voluntary service context
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Current Driver Licence, Working With Children Check, and National Police Check
- Bilingual or multilingual skills relevant to the communities we serve. (e.g. Arabic, Vietnamese, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Assyrian, Mandarin, Cantonese, or other community languages).
