On-Call IT & Networking Field Technician (Independent Contractor)

We are looking for a motivated IT or Networking student to become part of our team as an On-Call Independent Contractor. This is a flexible, ad-hoc opportunity designed to fit around your university studies, holidays or other commitments.

This is not a permanent or regular weekly position. Instead, you’ll be contacted when in office support is required, such as when the business owner is on leave, travelling or during busy periods. Our experienced remote technicians will provide guidance and support whenever required, so you’ll never be expected to solve complex problems on your own.

What You’ll Be Doing





Following training, you’ll attend customer sites to:

- Diagnose basic internet and Wi-Fi issues.
- Replace routers, switches, access points and other networking equipment.
- Install and commission new networking hardware.
- Perform basic fault finding and testing.
- Report findings back to our remote engineering team.
- Represent TOI professionally when dealing with customers.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

- Is currently studying (or recently completed studies) in Information Technology, Networking or Cyber Security.
- Has a genuine passion for technology and networking.
- Is reliable, trustworthy and well presented.
- Enjoys solving problems and learning new skills.
- Is comfortable working independently while remaining in contact with our remote support team.
- Communicates professionally with customers.

Essential Requirements

- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Reliable motor vehicle.
- Own laptop computer and mobile phone.
- Ability to travel throughout the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas.
- Australian working rights.
- Willingness to obtain an ABN and work as an Independent Contractor.
