Where you'll be working
The Sutherland Hospital is a 375 bed Major Metropolitan Teaching Hospital affiliated with the University of NSW, located in the Sutherland Shire 25 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. A 44 bed Emergency Department which includes 3 resuscitation bays, dedicated Adult and Paediatric Rapid Track areas, an 8 bed ED Short Stay Unit, a collocated Radiology Department with CT scanner. The addition of 60 new acute inpatient beds, including 6 additional ICU beds and a 16 bed General Medical Unit. There are 24hr diagnostic services and excellent support from Mental Health, ICU and community/aged care services and nursing staff. Sutherland Hospital provides a 24/7 Interventional Cardiology service. Inpatient services include most subspecialties; General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Oncology, Renal, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Mental Health.

What you'll be doing





Providing effective medical care to patients in the Emergency Department under supervision, while developing expertise in Emergency Medicine.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Minimum two years postgraduate years.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in Emergency medicine or equivalent acute setting.
- Preparedness and ability to participate in a 24 hour shift work roster including on-call.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and demonstrated good organisational and time management skills.
- Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education.
- Ability and willingness to work at the facility to deliver patient care. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
