About the role

We are seeking an experienced and confident Traffic Control Team Leader to join our team at our Sydney Olympic Park location. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst providing meaningful work in a dynamic industry. As Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing traffic control operations on site, ensuring all team members adhere to safety protocols and delivering exceptional service to our clients. This role is critical to maintaining operational excellence and upholding T&S; Traffic Control's reputation for professionalism and safety.

Key responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate traffic control team members on assigned work sites
- Ensure all staff comply with traffic management plans, safety regulations and company procedures
- Conduct site briefings and toolbox talks to communicate daily objectives and safety requirements
- Monitor and manage traffic flow, pedestrian movement and site access in accordance with approved plans
- Conduct pre-shift safety checks on equipment, signage and protective gear
- Respond promptly to incidents, hazards or changes in site conditions and escalates issues when necessary
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents and team performance




- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, clients and other stakeholders
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior traffic control staff
- Report on operational matters and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

What we’re looking for

- Current Traffic Control certification and valid Australian driver's license
- Proven experience as a traffic control operative with at least 2-3 years in the role
- Demonstrated leadership experience or evidence of natural supervisory capabilities
- Strong knowledge of traffic management principles, road safety standards and relevant legislation
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to brief and direct team members clearly
- Sound understanding of health and safety protocols and a commitment to zero-harm principles
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in dynamic environments
- Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- High level of reliability and professional conduct
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Preferred: Experience working on construction sites, major events or roadwork projects
