About The Role
Reporting to the Construction Director, you'll take ownership of the company's HSEQ strategy across its national project portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work closely with project managers, site teams and subcontractors to drive a proactive safety culture while ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and industry best practice. You'll play a key role in developing and improving HSEQ systems, supporting project delivery teams, mentoring operational staff, and ensuring safety remains at the forefront of every project.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve the company's HSEQ management systems.
- Provide leadership and support across multiple commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
- Develop Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), risk assessments and other HSEQ documentation.
- Lead incident investigations and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Coach and mentor project teams to promote a positive and proactive safety culture.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with company and legislative HSEQ requirements.
- Monitor HSEQ performance and provide reporting to senior leadership.
- Maintain compliance with WHS legislation, ISO standards and industry best practice.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
To Be Successful
- Diploma in Work Health and Safety (or higher qualification).
- Demonstrated experience in a Safety Manager or Senior HSEQ role within commercial construction, fit-out or refurbishment.
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and ISO management systems.
- Proven ability to influence, coach and engage operational teams.
- Experience leading incident investigations and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with the ability to balance compliance and operational outcomes.
- Current driver's licence and Australian working rights.
