Job Description
The School of Nursing and Midwifery is one of the largest of schools within the Heath Group and Griffith University. Our School has a robust international reputation (ranked #1 in Australia, #3 in the world, 2025 Shanghai academic subject ranking), and we are committed to the global development of nursing and midwifery practice, theory and research in positive and visionary ways.
- Lead and conduct high quality research that aligns with the School’s research strengths, attracts competitive funding, and delivers meaningful impact for healthcare policy, practice and communities.
- Teach and convene courses across undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programs, creating engaging, student-centred learning experiences that support student success and employability.
- Supervise and mentor Honours, Higher Degree Research (HDR) and postgraduate students,
fostering research excellence and developing the next generation of nursing scholars and leaders.
- Provide academic leadership through program coordination and other leadership responsibilities, contributing to curriculum innovation, quality enhancement and the strategic direction of the School.
- Build and strengthen collaborations with academic, industry and healthcare partners to enhance research impact, support workforce development and elevate the School’s reputation nationally and internationally.
This is a continuing, full time position primarily based at either Griffith University Gold Coast or Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi‑site university you may be required to work across other locations.
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Level D range $172,686 - $190,248 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $202,043 - $222,590 per annum.
The School of Nursing and Midwifery are willing to support the right candidate with a range of additional benefits including:

Qualifications
- Hold a PhD in Nursing or a related discipline, together with unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).
- Demonstrate an established research track record, including publication in high quality peer reviewed journals, success in securing competitive research funding, and evidence of research impact at a national and/or international level.
- Possess a strong record of teaching excellence in higher education, with experience in curriculum design, course convening, program coordination, and the delivery of innovative, evidence-based learning experiences.
- Show a proven ability to supervise and mentor Honours and Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates to successful completion, while contributing to the development of a vibrant research culture.
- Bring highly developed leadership, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive partnerships across academic, healthcare, industry and professional communities.
