Senior Medical Officer – General Practice

An Eastern VIC hospital requires a Senior Medical Officer in General Practice. Fairly urgent – Tuesday 2nd of June – 1 x 24‑hour on call block. Compensation ranges from $2,500 to $3,000 per on call block.

About the role

- Provide holistic obstetric and neonatal care in a supportive rural environment.
- Manage approximately 150–200 births per year.
- Deliver comprehensive care where no on‑site paediatrician is available; candidates must be comfortable and proficient in managing both well and unwell neonates.
- Work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team committed to safe, high‑quality rural maternity care.

Requirements

- Current registration and experience as a GPO/Obstetrician with recent clinical practice.
- PROMPT (obstetric emergency training) or equivalent completed within the last 12 months.
- Level 3 FSEP certification current within 12 months.
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NNR) certification current within 12 months.




- Advanced procedural skills and confidence working independently in a rural setting (evidence of completion & results required prior to confirmation of booking).
