About This Role

- Earn up to $99,645 per year, on a base of $62,104 (including standard penalty rates)
- Relocation allowance available for eligible candidates (up to $10,000)

Youth justice worker (Nights) are the frontline staff who supervise and support young people overnight who are on remand or serving a sentence in custody. This is not a security job with long stretches of downtime. You will speak directly to young people throughout the night, typically through their intercom. When they feel vulnerable, they may reach out. Some conversations will be raw and personal. You will listen with care and compassion while still keeping firm boundaries.

Responsibilities

- Conduct regular wellbeing checks of young people
- Redirect anti-social and challenging behaviour
- Monitor CCTV, complete compliance reporting and respond to any alarms
- Respond to incidents as they occur
- Facilitate support from other services, including health and mental health providers, educators and disability organisations

Eligibility

- Australian citizen (birth certificate, citizenship certificate or current passport is required as proof)
- Permanent resident of Australia




- New Zealand citizen who has entered Australia on a valid passport, or eligible to work in Australia for a period of more than six months

You will also need to pass a health and fitness assessment. Prior to starting work, all successful candidates must independently obtain current First Aid Certification (HLTAID011), current CPR Certification and a valid Working with Children Check (Employee). All certificates must be valid for at least three months from employment start date. A driver licence is desirable but not mandatory.
