Total Remuneration Package valued at $168,946.00. Base salary of $149,059.00, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation.
About the School
Westdale Public School is situated within the Peel Network in Tamworth, NSW, on the land of the Kamilaroi people. The school has an enrolment of 380 students in 17 classes, including a behaviour support class and two multi‑categorical support classes. The community is diverse, with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students comprising close to 50% of enrolments and 13% of students identifying as having English as an additional language or dialect. The school has modern facilities equipped with educational resources, ICT, literacy and numeracy resources, and a range of sporting and recreation equipment.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Principal will work as part of the school leadership team alongside the Principal, Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction, and three other Assistant Principals. Responsibilities include teaching a mainstream class, leading a stage, and supervising teaching and non‑teaching staff.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach infants and/or primary 1.
- Proven capacity to work and lead collaboratively as part of a team, balancing the dual role of an exemplary teacher and the diverse responsibilities of an Assistant Principal.
- Deep understanding of instructional leadership and data analysis, with proven ability in mentoring staff and leading high‑impact professional learning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to equitable education, with the capacity to lead the implementation of culturally responsive and high‑quality wellbeing programs that meet the needs of all learners, and collaboratively build meaningful relationships with all key stakeholders.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare, with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
- Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams.
- Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. Applicants who do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education must commence the application process at the same time as they apply for this teaching chance.
