About the TeamThe purpose of this role is to provide clinical expertise and consultancy through advanced clinical leadership relevant to the speciality of intellectual disability and neurodiversity. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides direct and indirect care as required and works in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager, Nurse Educator and wider health care team support the clinical unit in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice for the specialty of intellectual disability and neurodiversity.AutonomyAdvanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice.Advanced level of decision making in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.Undertake operational leadership.Work collectively to apply the principals of clinical governance.Apply professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.Responsible for enacting strategies that support a work-based culture that promotes and supports education, learning, research and workforce development.About the RoleThe General Paediatric Service (Gen Paeds) is a specialist paediatric service based at the Queensland Children's Hospital (QCH) whom provide medical care and treatment to children and young people utilising a framework of family-centred care.The Clinical Nurse Consultant for the Supporting Therapeutic Assistance and Regulation (STAR) Team at Queensland Children's Hospital plays a key role in coordinating care for children and young people with disability who require medical care and communicate, or are known to communicate,



unmet needs through behaviours of concern that can impact the delivery of their care. This role involves collaborating with families, carers, community supports, and hospital staff to develop and implement comprehensive, trauma-informed care.
