Director – Finance & Investment | Board Opportunity
Aberlea Inc. is a respected, community-owned residential aged care and seniors living provider based in Mortlake and Timboon, Victoria.
With deep local roots and an ambitious Strategic Masterplan underway, Aberlea is entering an exciting period of growth, investment and organisational transformation.
Following a significant Board renewal program over the past twelve months, we are now seeking aDirector – Finance & Investmentto complete the Board's strategic capability framework.
This is an opportunity to join a highly engaged Board and play a key leadership role in ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of one of regional Victoria's leading community-owned aged care organisations.
About the role
The successful applicant will strengthen the Board's financial governance capability and provide strategic leadership as Chair of Aberlea's Finance & Investment Committee.
Working alongside an experienced Board and executive leadership team, you will contribute to:
Strategic financial oversight and governance
Investment governance and capital allocation
Long-term capital planning and redevelopment
Independent oversight of organisational financial performance
The is a governance role rather than an operational accounting position.
We are seeking candidates with:
Senior finance leadership experience (such as CFO, Finance Director, Executive Finance Leader or equivalent)
Strong financial literacy and governance capability
Experience interpreting financial information to support strategic decision-making
The ability to chair a Board Finance & Investment Committee
Excellent communication,
judgement and Board-level leadership skills
Highly desirable experience
Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
Aged care finance
Health or community services
Capital planning and infrastructure investment
Organisational growth or major redevelopment projects
Experience within the aged care sector would be highly regarded, particularly an understanding of areas such as funding models, accommodation funding, capital management and long-term financial sustainability.
Previous Board experience is desirable but not essential.
We welcome applications from experienced finance executives seeking their first Non-Executive Director appointment, provided they can demonstrate strong governance capability and alignment with Aberlea's values.
Board commitment
Board meetings are held quarterly, with two meetings each year conducted in person in Mortlake.
Finance & Investment Committee meetings are also held quarterly, with flexibility to participate via videoconference where appropriate.
