Play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the next generation of medical professionals through UQ's innovative Learning Community model. As Deputy Head of Learning Community (Year2), you will cultivate a dynamic, inclusive and intellectually vibrant academic home where students, clinicians and educators collaborate to learn, connect and thrive. Working within the Rural Clinical School, you will contribute to a purposeful and collaborative environment that supports students in developing their professional identity, clinical capability and sense of belonging as future doctors serving regional and rural communities.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching – Provide visionary academic leadership for Year2 learning and assessment, delivering high‐quality clinical teaching, mentoring and pastoral care to support student progression and success.
Research – Maintain an active scholarly profile and contribute to collaborative research initiatives that strengthen rural health and medical education.
Supervision & Researcher Development – Guide and support students and staff through effective supervision, coaching and development, fostering engagement in research and continuous learning.
Citizenship & Service – Champion a culture of inclusivity, partnership and service by contributing to governance, building strong relationships with healthcare providers, and promoting rural medical careers.
About You




Collaborative and student‐centred clinical academic passionate about medical education and committed to supporting learners as they progress academically and develop their professional identity.
Engaging educator and trusted mentor with a strong focus on inclusive practice, who brings both academic leadership and genuine enthusiasm for improving rural and regional health outcomes.
Qualifications
Medical qualification with eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with suitable specialist or general practice credentials.
Demonstrated experience and leadership in clinical teaching, with a strong commitment to student learning and development.
Proven ability to support student progression through academic advising, feedback and pastoral care.
Contemporary clinical expertise with an understanding of best practice in medical education.
Experience contributing to research or scholarship, ideally within a collaborative or rural health context.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine commitment to rural and regional health outcomes.
