At Smart, we're continuing to evolve and mature our Digital Experience capability, and we're looking for an experienced Product Design Chapter Lead to play a key role in that journey.
This is a 12-month maximum term contract, offering a unique opportunity to help shape how we design great experiences at Smart, while influencing how design is embedded across our business as our operating model, design capability and customer experience function continue to evolve.

About the Role
As our Product Design Chapter Lead, you'll lead and grow a talented team of designers, supporting work across multiple squads while championing customer-centred design practices and elevating UX and UI standards across our digital products. You'll play a critical role in developing design capability, driving consistency across experiences, and ensuring our digital solutions deliver meaningful value for customers and the business alike.
Working closely with Product, Engineering and business stakeholders, you'll help shape strategy, influence outcomes and establish scalable design practices that support Smart's continued growth and transformation.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead, coach and mentor designers across multiple product squads.




Champion customer-centred design practices including research, testing, journey mapping and validation.
Establish and evolve design standards, governance and best-practice frameworks.
Drive consistency, usability and accessibility across digital experiences.
Own and scale a unified design system across products and platforms.
Facilitate workshops, design critiques and stakeholder engagement sessions.
Partner with Product and Engineering teams to balance customer needs, business goals and technical feasibility.
Build a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
Influence senior stakeholders and advocate for great customer experiences.
Support the ongoing growth and maturity of the Design Chapter.
What You'll Bring
Significant experience in Product Design within scaled digital product or complex service environments, with a strong track record designing intuitive, accessible and effective experiences across web and mobile channels.
Proven success leading and developing design teams.
Strong expertise in design systems, customer experience and product design strategy.
Experience leading design across multiple squads or products.
Advanced proficiency with Figma and modern design tools.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
The ability to connect customer needs, business goals and technical constraints.
A strategic mindset combined with a hands‐on approach to leadership.
Experience working within product led operating environments.
You bring a genuine curiosity about AI and digital innovation, with an openness to learning how these tools can enhance your role and the way we work.
