Are you an experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic looking for more than just another workshop role?

At Heidelberg Materials, we're looking for a hands‐on leader who wants to influence how our workshop operates-not just repair trucks. This is an opportunity to build leadership capability, mentor others, improve fleet performance and play a key role in one of NSW's largest transport operations.
/n
You'll lead the day‐to‐day mechanical function of our Kulnura Workshop and surrounding Central Coast/Newcastle areas, supporting a modern fleet of heavy vehicles while developing the systems, people and processes that keep our business moving.

What You'll Be Doing
/n
As the Lead Mechanic, you'll balance hands‐on technical work with leadership and planning responsibilities, including:
/n
Leading and coordinating the inspection, diagnosis and repair of heavy vehicles and associated equipment
/n
Planning and managing preventative maintenance programs to maximise fleet availability and reliability
/n
Coaching, mentoring and developing mechanics to build capability across the workshop
/n
Driving a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all legislative and company standards
/n
Improving workshop systems, maintenance processes and equipment reliability through continuous improvement initiatives
/n
Coordinating external contractors and suppliers while managing workshop priorities
/n
Working closely with operations and transport leaders to minimise downtime and support business performance
/n
Maintaining accurate maintenance records and supporting workshop planning and reporting
/n
Providing technical leadership during breakdowns and critical fleet issues
/n
What We're Looking For
/n
You'll bring:
/n
Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic
/n
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a heavy vehicle workshop
/n
Strong diagnostic capability across contemporary diesel engines, hydraulics and electronic systems
/n
A proactive mindset with a passion for developing people and improving the way work is done
/n
Excellent communication and planning skills
/n
HC driver's licence (desirable)
/n
Experience with Mack and Volvo fleets (advantageous)
/n
