Position Details

THE ROLE

We are seeking a Team Manager to join our After Hours program on ongoing, full time rostered basis and make a real difference in the lives of children, young people and families. This position will be based in Mildura.

As part of the After-Hours team you will work to a structured, rostered model and provide response and emergency outreach visits as required to all child protection matters that are received outside core business hours; at night, on weekends and on public holidays and will be entitled to applicable penalty rates and allowances.





In this role you will join a passionate team that shares your commitment to keeping children safe and families connected. You will be responsible for effective service delivery which will involve managing a small team of Child Protection Practitioners, allocation of cases, resource and budget management. You will have the formal delegation to endorse and review case plans to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of children and young people and to promote the achievement of case plan objectives within specified timeframes. The position will work collaboratively with the Senior Child Protection Practitioners to help strengthen case practice and to support the development of practitioners to ensure effective service delivery.

Essential to your success will be a recognised Social Work or Welfare related qualification/ or equivalent coupled with relevant experience as well as a strong sense of social justice and an understanding that families are complex, with their own unique histories. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

- Risk assessment and analysis: authorise plans and decisions in relation to risk assessment, analysis and mitigation/intervention
- Case planning review and case management: lead planning, review and management of your own and your teams case work
- Practice leadership: lead planning, review and management of assessment and decision making in line with best practice principles and legislative requirements; expertly translate best practice principles and legislative requirements to apply in practice
- Developing others: encourage a learning environment for team members, promoting the need for gaining new knowledge, insights and skills.

Regional retention allowance

Under the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024, child protection practitioners may also be eligible to receive a regional retention allowance.

Practice Induction Program (PIP)

All new Child Protection practitioners are required to complete mandatory, full-time five-week Practice Induction Program (PIP). This training is designed to provide new employees with the necessary practice of knowledge and skills relating to the role. This is delivered online and in person with attendance in Melbourne required for some week blocks. Regional employees will be supported with travel and accommodation arrangements.
