The Role
We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Urgent Care Service. As a vital team member, you will provide high‑quality nursing support and ensure all patients that present to the Urgent Care Service are identified as being appropriate for the service, triaged promptly and provided with front‑line care in collaboration with the Urgent Care Medical Practitioner. Your Responsibilities
- Be the first point of contact for patients in urgent care — take charge of triaging every patient who walks through the door with accuracy, empathy, and confidence.
- Conduct thorough and precise nursing triage — quickly assess patient needs and prioritise care to ensure the best outcomes.
- Act decisively in critical moments — identify and escalates emergencies or patient deterioration without hesitation to safeguard patient health.
- Perform hands‑on procedural care such as suturing, plastering and other clinical tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a energetic, ever‑changing setting.
- Collaborate closely with patients, families, carers and medical practitioners to deliver compassionate, patient‑centered care.
- Support and guide patients toward the best clinical outcomes.
- Provide health education that equips patients to take charge of their wellbeing.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation to support continuity of care and quality standards.
- Participate in safety initiatives, report incidents or hazards to foster a secure work environment.
About You
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Must be available evenings and weekends.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience in at least one of the following: 3 years in an Emergency Department, triage, ICU/CCU, rural or remote nursing.
- Previous triage experience or remote nursing experience preferred.
- Ability to assess health deterioration and escalates appropriately.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Can work autonomously and delegate when appropriate.
- A passion for patient‑centered care and a personable approach.
- Required to provide a Working with Children’s check and/or National Police check if not already obtained.
