Campbelltown Hospital is recruiting for a Critical Care SRMO. Campbelltown Hospital has a modern current facility housing our Critical care facilities, Paediatric and Birthing suites. When working in this position you will be exposed to the critical care aspect of Campbelltown, which has a large proportion of paediatric medicine as well as Intensive Care medicine and Anaesthesia. More than 25% of the Emergency Department Caseload is paediatrics and you will be involved in their care in an emergency setting, as well as learning about special care nursery paediatrics. Campbelltown Hospital also has the highest birthing numbers in the South Western Sydney District, and the diverse communities and populations here will allow you to see a wide range of clinical scenarios and learning opportunities.



The Intensive care Unit at Campbelltown is a Level III unit supporting mechanically ventilated and multisystem organ support with more than 1200 admissions a year, supporting all disciplines except neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery. There are more than 15000 patients per year requiring anaesthesia support for surgery and other procedures at Campbelltown, in all disciplines except Cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery and major vascular surgery.

The Intensive care Unit at Campbelltown is a Level III unit supporting mechanically ventilated and multisystem organ support with more than 1500 admissions a year, making it the second busiest metropolitan ICU in the state. It supports all disciplines except neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery.

There are weekly education programs in Paediatrics, Intensive Care and Anaesthesia, and you will have access to all these teaching opportunities during your year here. There is protected teaching time available for all trainees and will be tailored for your stage of your career.

What you'll be doing

This is a Senior Resident Medical Officer position that will allow supervised experience and training in Intensive Care Medicine, Anaesthetics and Paediatric Medicine.

The primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in Critical Care is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring critical care.

This 12-month appointment is made up of 4-month long attachments in Intensive Care Medicine, Anaesthetics and Paediatric Medicine

- MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience.
- Demonstrated interest in the critical care disciplines of Intensive care or Anesthetics. Evidence of training/competency in advanced life support.
- Evidence of completion of an introductory course to Intensive Care Medicine such as BASIC, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgment, expertise and demonstrated teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary team. Preparedness and ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
- Demonstrated interest and willingness to teach Junior Medical Staff and be involved in research.
