Job Description

On behalf of our client Gulf Hydraulic, we are seeking a qualified Fitter General, fitter and turners /Machinists for a full-time position in Malaga. Gulf Hydraulics Australia is a leader in the Hydraulics Industry for the service and repair of Hydraulic Pumps, Motors and Cylinders and has been recognised as service provider for the offshore, industrial and mining sectors. Primary responsibilities Fitters and Turners

- Assembled and fitted precision hydraulic cylinder components, including barrels, rods, pistons, glands, and specialized seal kits, to full operational compliance.
- Operated workshop machinery and heavy press equipment to accurately install interference-fit bushes and components.
- Conducted diagnostic pressure testing, including bypass and static pressure leak testing, to verify fluid power integrity and safety standards.
- Utilized precision hand tools and torque equipment to tighten fasteners and sub-assemblies to exact OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
- Maintained quality control records, documented test data, and assigned unique job identifiers/ID tracking to completed units prior to final surface finishing (coating/spraying).
- Setting up and operating conventional lathes and milling machines to turn, face, thread, or bore metal stock.
- Machining new or worn parts (like reclaiming a worn cylinder rod or machining a current gland/piston from scratch) to exact tolerances.




- Using engineering drawings and precision measuring tools (micrometers, vernier calipers) to machine components down to the millimeter.

Primary responsibilities Machinist

- Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines,
- Manufacture rods, glands, pistons, barrels, bases, fittings, bushes
- Review specifications for a job.
- Calculate where to cut or bore.
- Shape steel, aluminum, other materials.
- Determine how fast or slow workpiece is fed into machine.
- Determine how much material to remove.
- Select tools and materials for the job.
- Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.
- Mark the workpiece to show where cuts should be made.
- Position workpiece on the lathe or milling machine.
- Monitor and control feed rate and speed.
- Ensure workpiece is properly lubricated and/or cooled.
- Regulate temperature of workpiece.
- Detect problems by listening for specific sounds.
- Adjust cutting speed to compensate for harmonic vibrations.
- Monitor the accuracy of cuts.
- Replace dull cutting tools.
- Check accuracy of work against specifications.
- Ability to use precision tools (eg. Micrometers internal & external)
- Use manual machinery.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience

- Adequate work experience or Certificate Ill in Engineering
- Mechanical Trade (Fitter & Machinist)
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent reading comprehension
- Physical Stamina

The salary range is from $79,500 to $85,000 per year plus super.
