My client is a respected contractor delivering highways and infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Highways Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of key projects. This role offers the opportunity to develop your career while working alongside experienced commercial professionals.
What You Will Be Doing
- Supporting the commercial management of highways projects from inception through to final account.
- Assisting with the administration of NEC contracts.
- Preparing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Supporting the management of subcontractor accounts.
- Assisting with the pricing and management of compensation events and variations.
- Monitoring project costs and preparing commercial reports.
- Working closely with project managers,
engineers and senior commercial staff to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
- Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and colleagues.
What You'll Need
- Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying role on highways or civil engineering projects.
- NEC highways experience is essential.
- A positive understanding of commercial processes within construction.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach and willingness to develop your commercial knowledge.
- A full UK driving licence.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary around £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
- Car allowance or company car.
- Hybrid working with 3 days on site in Penrith and 2 days working from home.
- Lodging provided for approximately 2 nights each week, with flexibility depending on project requirements.

Location & Working Pattern
This role is based in Penrith with a hybrid working arrangement. You will typically spend three days per week on site and two days working from home. Flexible lodging will be provided for approximately two nights each week to support those travelling to site.
