Join us as a Principal Lawyer based in Brisbane in a flexible part‑time role (2 days per week) providing expert legal advice across two Queensland Government agencies. You will work independently on complex public law matters and build strong stakeholder relationships while supporting key outcomes for government. The Business and Corporate Partnership (BCP) division provides strategic advice, leads key programmes implementation and delivers corporate services that enable the department to achieve its objectives.

Join a high-performing in‑house legal team delivering expert advice across the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development and the Department of Primary Industries. As Principal Lawyer, you will contribute to complex and evolving legal work, advising on statutory powers and public law matters that directly support government priorities.

In this role, you will work independently to provide authoritative legal advice to two agencies, with a particular focus on providing advice about statutory functions and powers and public law issues. You will prepare instructions to Crown Law and external providers on complex matters and respond to urgent and sensitive issues requiring legal advice.

Success in this role is demonstrated through sound judgement, high‑quality advice, responsiveness to emerging issues, and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and across agencies. You will be proactive, adaptable and committed to delivering outcomes with professionalism and accountability.

- A copy of your current resume (2–3 pages recommended), detailing your previous work, voluntary or relevant experience, and the contact details for two referees who have personally observed you displaying the key duties, responsibilities and capabilities of this role, plus a brief cover letter (1–2 pages) introducing yourself to the panel and showcasing how your "About you" skills, and capabilities will enable you to make a valuable contribution to the department.
